As part of the high-profile expansion of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla, Linespace was commissioned to design a holistic wayfinding and signage program that would match the museum’s contemporary architectural language and elevate the visitor experience. The goal was to create an elegant system that would serve a diverse public and harmonize with both indoor and outdoor environments.

Linespace’s signage design for MCASD is rooted in clarity, restraint, and material precision. A refined visual system was established to span the entire campus—guiding visitors through newly expanded galleries, gardens, terraces, and common spaces, with seamless transitions between interior and exterior signage. Using a palette of anodized bronze aluminum and matte finishes, the signs blend architectural subtlety with durability.

Typography throughout the system is clean, modern, and highly legible—selected for accessibility and clarity without drawing attention away from the museum experience. Complementary universal icons enhance accessibility and wayfinding efficiency for diverse audiences.

The signage program also included a tiered donor recognition strategy and gallery naming system. These elements were designed with the same refined materiality and typographic restraint, honoring philanthropic contributions while aligning with the museum’s architectural tone. Gallery identifiers named for key donors were subtly integrated into circulation paths, and a main donor wall provides high-visibility acknowledgment in a central location. The overall result is a cohesive, respectful signage language that supports both orientation and recognition without disrupting the contemplative atmosphere of the art-viewing experience.

As part of the City of La Puente’s comprehensive park renovation, Linespace was commissioned to design and deliver an interpretive signage system for the 22-acre La Puente Park. The signage was created to engage visitors of all ages with informative content about the importance of the park’s trees—highlighting their ecological role, lifecycle, and the habitats they support.

Linespace developed a series of four custom interpretive panels that focus on tree education and environmental awareness, helping visitors connect with the natural elements woven throughout the park. Each sign features original illustrations, descriptive text, and infographic-style visuals that explore topics such as the lifecycle of native trees, their role in local ecosystems, air and water quality benefits, and the species they shelter.

The graphic approach was designed to resonate with a wide audience—from children to adults—combining clarity with visual storytelling. The panels were fabricated using durable outdoor-rated materials, including high-pressure laminate (HPL) for fade- and weather-resistance, mounted to powder-coated steel posts suited for long-term exposure in high-traffic public areas.

Placed along walking trails and near major park features, the signage system not only educates but enhances the park’s visual identity, supporting the City’s broader goals of environmental stewardship, recreation, and community engagement.

The School of Los Angeles (formerly The Episcopal School of Los Angeles), an independent school located in the heart of Hollywood, asked Linespace to design an exterior graphic identity system that would tie together its collection of buildings and better express the school’s mission, spirit, and architectural context. The project aimed to improve street presence, unify wayfinding touchpoints, and reflect TSLA’s renewed brand direction.

Linespace developed a concept-to-implementation graphic program for TSLA that included site identity signage, building graphics, and exterior murals. Designed to bring cohesion to the campus’s multi-building layout along Santa Monica Boulevard, the system focused on bold, high-visibility placements that balance graphic clarity with respect for the school’s neighborhood context.

The scope included large-scale wall graphics, hand-painted murals, dimensional identity signage, and wayfinding elements—all tuned to communicate TSLA’s values while creating a vibrant and welcoming experience for students, families, and visitors. Concepts incorporated a mix of modern typography, school color accents, and architectural integration strategies to enhance visibility and reinforce brand continuity across multiple façades.

Linespace worked closely with the school leadership to explore design directions, prepare detailed fabrication recommendations, and develop a phased implementation strategy to accommodate timelines and budget. The project culminated in a flexible exterior graphics system that delivers both practical function and expressive character.
