Set atop the cliffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Terranea Resort is a premier Southern California destination known for its ocean views, timeless architecture, and refined hospitality. Linespace partnered with Lowe Enterprises and HKS to develop a resort-wide signage program that aligns with the Mediterranean design vision while supporting intuitive navigation across the sprawling, amenity-rich campus.
Linespace designed and implemented a full signage and wayfinding system for Terranea, including exterior and interior signs for the hotel, spa, fitness center, ballrooms, restaurants, bars, and event spaces. The system’s materials and forms—stone bases, bronze accents, and handcrafted details—were selected to mirror the resort’s architecture and natural surroundings.
Custom interpretive trail signage and directionals were developed for the two-mile coastal path, offering wayfinding and educational storytelling while blending into the rugged bluffside terrain. Residential elements, including bungalow and casita markers, feature hand-crafted clay tiles with unique unit identifiers—enhancing both place identity and guest experience.
Interior signage for the hotel and conference center followed the same design ethos, balancing understated elegance with clear functionality. Wayfinding is effortless yet elevated—supporting resort operations while maintaining a calm, cohesive visual language.
The resort opened in 2009, with additional signage and amenity branding expansions completed through 2015. Terranea continues to be recognized as a landmark destination in the South Bay.
