Kilroy Realty partnered with Linespace to develop a complete wayfinding solution for the 501 Santa Monica Blvd parking structure—supporting intuitive circulation for visitors, tenants, and the public. The challenge was to clearly guide users across a complex vertical environment while reflecting the creative character of the downtown Santa Monica context.
Linespace designed and implemented a highly legible, color-driven signage system across all garage levels. Each floor is defined by a bold color zone, helping users quickly identify their location while moving through the structure. Painted supergraphics incorporate oversized numerals, directional arrows, and elevator/stair icons—all rendered in a custom type system developed for visual clarity.
Diagonal design motifs and color blocking add energy and flow to the space, helping orient drivers and pedestrians alike. Pedestrian crossing warnings, elevator/stair markers, and exit routing are scaled and positioned for quick comprehension—especially important in high-traffic, low-visibility environments.
The project was coordinated closely with Kilroy’s construction team and implemented from concept through fabrication and installation. Designed for long-term durability and low maintenance, the system ensures a clean, branded parking experience that is functional, memorable, and aligned with the identity of the broader campus.
