The Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center is the first building at USC dedicated solely to the study of dance. As a state-of-the-art home for the Kaufman School of Dance, the 54,000 square-foot facility includes rehearsal studios, a performance space, wellness areas, and faculty offices. Linespace was engaged to design a cohesive signage and donor recognition system that complements the building’s architectural elegance while celebrating the philanthropic support behind its creation.
Linespace developed a full building signage and donor recognition program that seamlessly integrates with the center’s refined material palette and spatial rhythm. From primary entry identification to room-level ADA signage, the system maintains clarity and cohesion throughout the multi-level facility.
A central focus of the project was the donor recognition strategy—executed through a series of layered, context-sensitive elements. Key donor names are featured with dimensional typography, etched plaques, and integrated panels placed at natural pauses within the architecture. The recognition system accommodates a range of giving levels, from prominent naming opportunities to subtle acknowledgments outside studios and support spaces.
Throughout the facility, graphic elements were designed to echo the movement, flow, and discipline of dance, supporting the school’s mission while honoring the individuals and families who made the center possible.
