The Merian is a sophisticated new apartment collection has emerged in the center of San Diego’s East Village neighborhood. Described as an “ecosystem comprised of stunning apartment homes, lively retail, higher education, and community gathering space.”

The project is inspired by the fulcrum of science and art, nature and biology. The layers of the world around us are conveyed through a sign program that is stabilized through the use of a consistent font type that is extruded in various layers creating shadows and highlights that move with the viewer. The signs are like curated pieces of art that were handcrafted using precise mechanisms.
